What Did YOU Do for Thanksgiving?
A very good evening to you. In answer to this post’s question, David and I got up at 6 this morning and ran a 5-K! Now, to some of you that sounds a bit whacked, but there were about 250 other whacked people having a VERY good time running AND walking at 8:30 this morning! The VERY present, but little photographed hubby finished first in his age group with a time of 24:48 and yours truly finished 11th in her age group with a time of 36:08. Now that sounds pretty lame, but this was only the SECOND road race I have been able to compete in since a half marathon in April 2013 when a heel injury had put me in EXTREME discomfort and completely halted much walking let alone running. Praise the LORD, I broke down and started seeing an acupuncturist a couple of months back, and she has done some amazing things for me. Now, there is very little, if any pain and I have resumed running, albeit very slowly! I hope a half marathon with be possible sometime in the new year.
This has been an extremely busy week, so I started pie crusts when we got home, but after lunch just HAD to take a nap! Needless to say, the turkey (one of our own home-grown birds) came out of the oven at 8:30 this evening, along with a lovely home-made pumpkin pie (my favorite), and fried apple pies for the ever-deserving husband! For dinner, a shepherd pie! Turkey for tomorrow’s dinner, but that’s alright! We are so thankful for God’s saving grace, each other, our home, four-legged family, David’s job, and our lovely farm. That only scratches the surface of what we are thankful for, but you get the idea.
Wishing you all a very blessed Thanksgiving, and as the hymn goes–count your blessings, name them one by one, count your blessings, see what God has done!
